SH CONSULTING DETECTIVE Vol 5
FOUR NEW MYSTERIES
Airship 27
Productions is thrilled to announce the release of its seventeenth title of
the year, SHERLOCK HOLMES – CONSULTING DETECTIVE Vol V. All four previous volumes have been among the
company’s biggest sellers as the appeal of Arthur Conan Doyle’s characters only
grows stronger with time.
“Part of this series success is that we made it clear from the
start that we would remain true to Doyle’s original template,” explains Airship
27 Managing Editor, Ron Fortier. “Over
the years these characters had been put into such fanciful situations as
combating Martians, meeting Tarzan or battling monsters as Dracula or Dr.
Jekyll & Mr.Hyde. It seemed there was no end to the absurdity of these
so-called crossovers.” Fortier was
adamant that the Consulting Detective books would respect Conan Doyle’s
original tales in every way possible.
“This is the one series our readers look forward to every year and are
always inquiring when the next book is due.
We value their support and promise to maintain this classic
approach. We’re not about to fix what
isn’t broken.”
Amidst the fog covered alleys and byways of London, murder and mayhem run rampant. With the dawning of a new century, Consulting
Detective Sherlock Holmes and his able assistant, Dr. Watson represent the
forces of truth and justice, ready to confront the villainy of these new modern
horrors.
Here are another quartet of unique, perplexing cases that
will challenge this noble duo and test their fortitude and courage. Why would someone murder an old man a few
months before his hundredth birthday?
Why is Holmes arch nemesis, Prof.
Moriarty hunting the city for same sadistic killer he is after? And when the Great Detective is arrested and
imprisoned for attempting to seduce the wife of a wealthy nobleman, Watson
questions whether his friend has finally lost his mind.
Within these pages, writers Chuck Miller, Aaron Smith, I.A.
Watson and Andrew Salmon offer up four of the most thrilling and suspenseful
adventures ever devised to confound Arthur Conan Doyle’s most beloved heroes. Pulp Factory Award winning artist Mike Fyles
provides the dramatic cover with interior illustrations and design by fellow PFA
winner, Rob Davis. It is time to load
your revolver, hail a hansom cab and prepare for action for once again, the
game is afoot!

NEW SPIDER - DL COMIC SERIES
THE SPIDER & THE LADY
(For Immediate
Release)
Veteran comics writer and New Pulp scribe, Ron Fortier, has
just signed to write a black and white, bi-monthly comics series for Moonstone
Books that will feature both The Master of Men, The Spider and the Sexy Pulp
Vigilante, Domino Lady. Fortier’s run
will begin with issue # 3 due out early next year.
Each adventure will be a two-issue arc and feature a third
pulp hero in a cameo role. Fortier’s enthusiasm for the project is bubbling
over. “I love both these classic pulp
characters and though I’ve done prose stories of them in the past, the
opportunity to chronicle new comic adventures was just too good to pass up.”
Pulp fans are aware of the logistical challenge such a
series poses because both characters operate opposite coasts; the Spider haunts
New York and its east coast environs while the
Domino Lady is a native Californian living in Los Angeles.
So how does one write that kind of a team book? “With lots of imagination and chicanery,”
Fortier says answering that question with a mischievous smile. “The last thing we wanted to do is force
plots because of some geographical perimeters.
All I will say is that both will make appearances in every issue, but as
to whether they are physically in the same place readers will just have to wait
and see.”
A well known writer with over thirty-five years experience,
Fortier is best known for his work on Now Comics’ GREEN HORNET and TERMINATOR –
BURNING EARTH series. He also wrote GENE
RODDENBERRY’S LOST UNIVERSE for Tekno Comics.
Today he divides this time between his own writing projects
and his duties as the Managing Editor of Airship 27 Productions, a leading
publisher in the New Pulp Movement, which he began nine years ago with artist
Rob Davis. He currently writes the new
prose adventures of Captain Hazzard and his own original pulp hero, Brother
Bones; the Undead Avenger.
The artist on this new venture is twenty year professional, Michael
Dorman. Dorman has worked in every capacity of graphic creating. His latest
credits include penciling and inking Logan’s
Run: Aftermath #4 and short stories in William Nolan’s Dark Universe for
Bluewater Comics and the upcoming Immortal Deception #1 for Honey Badger
Press. "I'm thrilled to be working with a legend of the pulp world
like Ron Fortier and excited to work with such icons as the Spider and Domino
Lady. I look forward to bringing these exciting stories to visual life!"
Editing the series is Chuck Kennedy. Chuck is a veteran
columnist and podcaster who has covered many of today’s brightest stars while
commenting on the state of the comic book and retail industry and providing the
occasional review when he can find the time. He is a stay-at-home father of
triplets who still believe he is a were-bear.
“I knew Ron for over a year as a super-groovy person that
everyone referred to as Captain and who had the coolest retro-lexicon of
adjectives for everyday terms like amigo, hip, and any number of names my dad
would recognize. Then I found out he was
a writer and damn did he become even cooler. Save yourself the time and just
start reading his work, you’ll get to know him far better than I ever did.”
Kennedy goes on to say the team’s first issue should be out
early next year with further Press Releases to announce the official date and
the Diamond Solicitation listings.

BROTHER BONES - Six Days of the Dragon
Ron Fortier's darkest creation returns!
When the
souls of the innocent cry for justice,
One man
hears their call:
Brother Bones
The Undead Avenger
Airship 27 Productions is thrilled to
announce the release of the first ever, full length Brother Bones novel, SIX DAYS OF THE DRAGON, by Roman Leary.
He stalks the streets of Cape Noire,
waging a never-ending war against the forces of darkness.
Bones has never met a foe he could not
defeat, but now he faces an enemy unlike any he has ever known. With only a motley
crew of unlikely allies – and his silver-plated twin .45s – Bones must stop an
ancient evil that threatens not only Cape
Noire, but the entire
world.
Created by writer/editor, Ron Fortier
nearly a decade ago, the Undead Avenger has appeared in over a half dozen pulp
shorts collected in a previous volume; several comic book adventures and in
audio recordings. Since his inception,
he has become one of the most popular heroes of the New Pulp movement. Now Brother Bones is back to cut a swathe of
destruction through his first full-length novel!
“Allowing another writer to handle
Brother Bones was something I had never imagined,” explains Fortier, the
Managing Editor of Airship 27 Production.
“Roman Leary is a talented writer and one of the biggest Brother Bones fans
out there. When he first approached me
with idea of writing a Bones novel, I was naturally hesitant.” Despite his reservations, Fortier let the
idea gestate for several days before replying to the enthusiastic writer. “I knew Roman loved the series and was
familiar not only with Brother Bones but his supporting cast as well,” Fortier
continues. “So I took a chance and asked
him to send me a detailed outline.” What
the character’s creator received was the plot to, SIX DAYS OF THE DRAGON. “Roman won me over. The concept was true to
the character but envisioned him in an exciting new adventure that was like
nothing that had been done before. I
knew instantly Brother Bones fans would love this book.”
Writer Roman Leary and illustrator Rob Moran
deliver the gun-blazing thrills in this epic tale of two-fisted action and spine-chilling
horror! “This is a rip-roaring ride
through a macabre house of horrors,” says Charles Saunders, author of Imaro and
Damballa.

ZEPPELIN TALES Vol One
CLIPPERS OF THE CLOUDS
UP SHIP! AIRSHIP 27 PRODUCTIONS launches ZEPPELIN TALES!
In the early 20th Century, German Count Ferdinand
von Zeppelin pioneered the creation of rigid, lighter-than-air crafts capable
of long distance flights. During World
War One they were adapted for military use as long range bombers wreaking havoc
upon Great Britain
from their lofty positions high above the clouds where fixed-winged fighters
could not reach them. After the war, the
Zeppelins became pleasure ships utilized in luxury Trans-Atlantic Flights and
highly popular.
The Golden Era of the airship was the 1930s, the same period
as that of the pulps and it is no surprise their romantic images would inspire pulp
writers of the time. The original monthly, ZEPPELIN STORIES, was produced
solely to highlight these magnificent flying machines in exciting, colorful and
fast paced adventures. Now, Airship 27
Productions, itself bearing the image of these high-flying cruisers, launches a
brand new series devoted to airships.
“I doubt there could be a more inevitable title for us than
this one,” joked Airship 27 Managing Editor Ron Fortier. “Even since we started publishing new pulp
novels and anthologies, many of our readers would point to our logo and ask
when we were going to get around doing a book about airships.” Fortier states that as much as he was
always keen on the idea, other projects
kept taking precedence. Then a few years
ago one of their regular contributors pushed the matter to the foreground. “Writer Frank Schildiner wrote one day pretty
much asking if we were ever going to get to this particular theme as it begged
to be done. I no longer had any
legitimate excuse not to tackle the project.
We put out the word and within a few days two of our finest pulp writers
answered the call.”
In this debut volume you will thrill to the exploits of Jim
Beard’s new hero, Tracer Talbot, as he encounters a mysterious pirate airship
and her crew. While writer I.A. Watson
sets off on an aerial adventure aboard an experimental Zeppelin built to
explore the skies of an alien dimension.
Each high flying tale is wonderfully illustrated by Pedro Cruz and the
book features a stunning cover by award winning artist Mike Fyles with Art
Director Rob Davis providing the book’s overall design.
Join us as AIRSHIP 27
– ZEPPELIN STORIES Vol One soars
into the stratosphere of the imagination on this, its maiden flight.

Veteran Police Sergeant Clarke is gunned down by hoodlums, shot
in the back of the head. As he lay

THE QUEEN OF ESCAPES
HATS OFF TO
THE SERIAL CLIFFHANGERS
Airship 27 Productions is absolutely thrilled to announce
the release of their newest pulp novel, “The Queen of Escapes,” by Curtis
Fernlund.
“I grew up seeing serials like Republic’s King of the
Rocketmen weekly at the local movie house,” says Airship 27 Managing Editor Ron
Fortier. “I have such fond memories of
those great melodramas and over the years have collected many of them on VHS
and then DVDs. Serials were pretty much
the film version of the pulps which is why I was so excited about The Queen of
Escapes when it landed on my desk.
Serial fans are going to love this one.”
The time is 1935. After a decade of fame as the Queen of the
Serials, Hollywood actress Gloria Swann is
dismayed to see her box-office numbers dwindling with each new production. Desperate to reclaim her popularity, she
bankrolls her own film project; an over the top jungle adventure to be shot on
location in the wilds of the Amazon rainforests of Brazil.
After the crew and cast arrive at their isolated
destination, a series of accidents occur threatening the lives of several of
the players. The main target of these
unexplained mishaps is Swann’s younger stunt double, Angela Morgan. She suspects there are evil forces lurking in
the jungle that threaten their safety. Her
only ally in this belief is Karl Braun, the veteran stun coordinator. When Gloria Swann mysteriously disappears,
Angela may be the only hope the Queen of Escapes has to survive.
Writer Curtis Fernlund’s homage to the classic film serials
of the yesterday is a rousing, fast paced adventure that speeds from one
danger-filled cliffhanger to the next.
James Lyle provides marvelous illustrations and Andy Fish captures all
the fun in his gorgeous cover painting, designed by Rob Davis.
