HAPPY NEW YEAR! A LOOK BACK AT 2017 AND BOOKS RELEASED!

As we settle in to the final few hours of 2017 (to which I say, good riddance), I thought I would take a look back at my output for the year. Let's start with the not so good so this ends on a positive note.

If you follow me on any social media platform or regularly visit my website, you'll know that 2017 was a rough year for me both personally and professionally. My Mom passed away in September after a 3 year battle against cancer. A large chunk of my last year and a half has been caring for her as her condition worsened. Her loss is still a gut punch that will take time to heal. My Dad developed a medical issue and knee replacement surgery as well during this time so I was caretaker for both of them. I was laid off from my day job at the right time to take care of them, so that was a positive, at least. I never thought I would be thankful to be let go from a job.

I had to cancel several convention appearances in 2017 while taking care of the folks and many deadlines fell behind. I am appreciative that the conventions and publishers I work with were all understanding and worked with me to readjust my schedule. I have already started building my 2018 convention schedule. March, specifically, is packed with something each weekend.

My Dad is doing better, recovering nicely from his surgery. We're still all pretty raw emotionally here, but my dad, brother, and I are getting through it together.

I have started getting back into the writing groove. I'm not quite back up to the daily word count I was hitting before, but I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things and there are big plans afoot for 2018, including catching up old deadlines and a few new projects being added to the pipeline. 2018 looks to be a busy year.

Speaking of busy years, 2017 did see some books released featuring my work, including 5 audio books (reading previously released material), 1 bundle (featuring the previously released Earthstrike Agenda novel), and 7 paperback releases. You can see the full list below.

Thank you for following my assorted ramblings this year. Please, stick around for more. I will try to be entertaining. You can also keep track of my various comings and goings on PatreonFacebookInstagramTwitterPinterestGoogle+LinkedIn!, and here at www.bobbynash.com.

DOC ATLAS JOINS AIRSHIP 27

DOC ATLAS JOINS AIRSHIP 27

One of the most popular new pulp heroes to arrive on the scene in the past decade is Doc Atlas; created by veteran writers Michael A. Black and Ray Lovato.  Created as their homage to the classic 30s and 40s characters such as Doc Savage, Jim Anthony etc. etc. Atlas has appeared in many fast paced adventures along with his aides, Thomas “Mad Dog” Deagan and Edward “Ace” Assante. These first appearances were offered via such outfits as Eclipse Publishing and Crossroads Press. Hundreds of pulp readers quickly became enthusiastic fans and continue clamor for more stories featuring this dynamic trio. Now they are about to have their wishes realized as Black and Lovato have entered into partnership with one of the leading New Pulp publishers in the field, Airship 27 Productions.

Airship 27 Productions has been publishing New Pulp anthologies and novels since 2004 and in that time their books have won numerous awards.  Owned and operated by Ron Fortier, Managing Editor, and Rob Davis, Art Director, the company is one of a small group that pioneered the revival of pulp fiction and continues to set the standard in creative, original pulp fiction.

“Ever since meeting Mike Black, I’ve been an ardent fan of his work,” Fortier says. “There’s no pulp genre he hasn’t worked in and his stories are always top notch. Doc Atlas is by far his most popular creation.” Black, over the past few years, has become a regular contributor to the Airship 27 anthologies and eventually convinced Lovato to submit his own works. When the pair offered Fortier a new Doc Atlas short, it sparked an idea he realized was too good to pass up. “Doc Atlas and Airship 27 were made for each other. It seemed only natural to me that our company could provide a home that would allow Mike and Ray the freedom to focus solely on their tales and leave the publishing end to someone else; someone who very much wants to increase their readership in a big – big way.”

Echoing that enthusiasm, Michael Black offered the following.  “My lifelong friend, Ray Lovato, and I are honored to have Doc Atlas become a regular part of Airship 27’s cast of characters. We’ve both admired the work of Ron Fortier and Rob Davis for years, and are eager to join them in creating new pulp adventures for a new generation of readers.”

Beginning in 2018, Airship 27 Productions will produce one Doc Atlas title per year, whether a collection of shorts or full length novels and be their sole publisher. Further announcements will be forthcoming.

THE SILVER RIDERS

SIX-GUNS AND SORCERY!

Airship 27 Productions proudly announces the release of its latest title, The Silver Riders by author Greg Hatcher.

In 1868, six people sought refuge at a hidden enclave in the high desert country of eastern Oregon: A brilliant female doctor dying of a rare disease. A Confederate deserter. Two refugees from a lynch mob. A former slave. A womanizing shootist. These were the first acolytes of Stonegarden Abbey, learning the secrets of Hermetic magic under the tutelage of the mysterious prophet Ezekiel Reardon. But Ezekiel had an agenda of his own, and their time at Stonegarden ended in fire and tragedy.

Those left alive thought the tragedy was behind them. But the dark power they believed was gone and buried with Ezekiel only slept, and it is awakening now, ten years later. The survivors of Stonegarden must return to the ruined Abbey when they are called to rescue one of their own, a woman they had thought long dead. With the help of a teenage half-breed Native girl,  these broken people must reclaim their old skills and find the strength within themselves to save their fallen sister Anne-Marie from an ancient evil… and the fate of the Earth itself might well hang in the balance.

“Weird westerns have become a staple of New Pulp fiction,” says Airship 27 Productions Managing Editor Ron Fortier. “And in The Silver Riders, Greg Hatcher has delivered a masterful thriller filled with both adventure and dark fantasy set against the rugged landscape of the American West.”  Adam Show provides the moody cover and award winning artist Chris Kohler the black and white interior illustrations.  All beautifully laid out by Art Director Rob Davis.

This is Weird Western done the Airship 27 way!

SHERLOCK HOLMES - Consulting Detective Vol 10

SHERLOCK HOLMES
THE MISSING YEARS

Airship 27 Productions is proud to present the 10th Volume in its best-selling mystery anthology series, Sherlock Holmes – Consulting Detective.

According to the stories of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes, while battling his arch foe, Prof. Moriarty, was lost in the Falls at Reichenback and presumed dead, though his was body was never recovered. Upon his return to London four years later, Holmes informs Dr. Watson that he had been traveling Europe and the Far East under the disguise of a Norwegian named Sigerson. Now, in a novella length adventure, I.A. Watson delves deeper into those missing years, revealing who it was that accompanied the Great Detective during those missing years.

This is one of four brand new stories that fill this 10th volume of Airship 27 Productions’ best selling series. Writers Aaron Smith and Greg Hatcher offer up their own unique tales; among these a clever burglar who robs from the rich while they attend theater performance and in another, Holmes and Watson come to the aid of former Baker Street Irregular accused of murder.

“I’d like to believe the reason this series is so popular with our readers is because we are devoted to only doing Conan Doyle style mysteries,” says Airship 27 Productions’ Managing Editor, Ron Fortier. “Over the years there have been lots of wild and crazy Sherlock Holmes stories pitting him against all manner of fanciful monsters, aliens and who knows what else. Whereas loyal Holmes fans for the most part cherish the old style adventures as Doyle wrote them; a mystery with all the clues narrated by Dr. Watson and in the finale solved by the Great Detective. This is what our readers want and this is what we are dedicated to bringing them. Old fashion tales.”

Once again three of the finest New Pulp writers breathe life into Conan Doyle’s classic characters and spin exciting, suspenseful tales of mystery and intrigue. As ever award winning Art Director Rob Davis provides the beautiful interior illustrations and Graham Hill delivers a truly marvelous cover painting of Holmes at rest in his 221 B sanctum. So, dear readers, sit back, pour yourselves a brandy and prepare to enjoy a truly wonderful collection of stories starring the one and only Sherlock Holmes – Consulting Detective.

SIX-GUN TERRORS Vol 3

THE SLITHERING TERROR

Airship 27 Productions is thrilled to announce the third volume in author Fred Adams Jr.’s weird western series, SIX-GUN TERRORS – The Slithering Terror.

When a plague of rattle snakes descends on parts of the frontier, striking terror in the hearts of local farmers and ranchers. General Sherman, representing the federal government, once again seeks out the services of his two most reliable scouts, cow-punchers Durken and McFee. Content with their current occupation working for cattle baron Homer Eldridge, the ex-Union scouts are reluctant to answer the General’s summons. Such past missions have led them straight into encounters for the supernatural in truly horrific ways.

This new assignment is no different, as the two must lead a cavalry company into the heart of Indian Territory seemingly infested with poisonous reptiles. Their primary goal: discover the reason for this plague and whether it is merely nature gone wild or something a great deal more sinister.

“This is one of the most original weird western series on the market today,” says Airship 27 Productions Managing Editor Ron Fortier.  “The bizarre adventures of Durken and McFee are really creepy good fun, giving us a nice dose of traditional western melodrama with the proper infusion of blood curdling horror.”

Author Fred Adams Jr. once again blends authentic western action with gut-wrenching horror as he weaves a twisted, nightmarish tale of slithering terror that will keep readers up late at night.  Artist Art Cooper provides the interior illustrations with Ted Hammond the beautiful horrific cover in the classic pulp vein.  This is another great chapter in a weird western series quickly becoming a fan favorite.

C.O. JONES - Skinners

C.O. JONES # 2 Skinners

Airship 27 Productions is thrilled to present the second in Fred Adams Junior’s thriller series featuring World War II vet C.O. Jones.

It’s 1949 and army veteran C.O. Jones is living in Los Angeles working as a private investigator.  When he’s hired to find a missing starlet, he soon finds himself embroiled in a sophisticated conspiracy which not only includes kidnapping but high profile blackmail as well.

All of which would be enough to keep any honest, hardworking P.I. busy but when it’s Jones, there is also the added element of magic to consider. Possessing an uncanny ability to recognize arcane abilities in others, Jones begins to uncover even deadlier shadows in the background.  Never mind one of them may actually be a real werewolf with his own personal interest in the case.

“C.O. Jones is one of the most original tough guy heroes ever invented,” claims Airship 27 Production’s Managing Editor Ron Fortier.  “Set against the background of post-World War II America, Adams has given us a rugged, weary character with just a smidgen of the occult mixed in. This is really a fun pulp series not to be missed.”

Award Winning Art Director Rob Davis provides the cover and book design while Florida based art/teacher Javier Lugo turns in his first assignment for Airship 27 with nine marvelous black and white interior illustrations. Thus action in the series shifts to Tinsel Town and with C.O. Jones, often times the monsters aren’t only up on the big silver screen.

“Barry Baskerville’s Marvelous Memory” shows children how close observations, adequate repetition, and mnemonic techniques can enhance their memorization skills.  The hero of the adventure is a precocious youngster named Barry Baskerville who has dreams of becoming a famous detective just like Sherlock Holmes.

“We have tons of fun with this series,” admits Airship 27 Productions’ Managing Editor Ron Fortier.  “To date we’ve done one book a year and believe the audience for Barry Baskerville is   growing in leaps in bounds. CAPTAIN ACTION 3 - CRY OF THE JUNGLE LORD

CAPTAIN ACTION # 3
Cry of the Jungle Lord

Airship 27 Productions and Captain Action Enterprises LLC, are thrilled to announce the release of the third volume of Captain Action’s new pulp adventures.

1969 - Something mysterious is happening in the depths of the Yucatan jungle and Miles Drake, aka Captain Action has been sent to investigate. His superiors believe their main nemesis, the alien criminal known as Dr. Evil, is hunting something called the Sky Rock; a supposed fallen meteor containing strange energies. But as soon as Drake arrives on the site, he’s met with two other unexpected characters that may or may not be involved with Evil’s nefarious plans.

One of these is a beautiful female Mexican agent named Selena Rubio, whereas the other is a strange masked figure woven from local Mayan myths called the Gibbon, the Protector of the Jungle. Whose side are they on and how does Evil’s actual scheme involve the forthcoming Cape Kennedy space rocket launch? The deeper Captain Action delves into the affair, the more dangerous it becomes with death awaiting him at every twist and turn along this deadly verdant path.

Writers Jim Beard and Barry Reese weave a face paced, new pulp thriller filled action galore, exotic locales and larger than life characters to offer up a great new chapter in the exploits of one of the most iconic heroes of the 1960s, Captain Action. Miles Drake is his name but Action is his game!!

“This entire series was writer Jim Beard’s idea,” Airship 27 Production’s Managing Editor Ron Fortier recaps. “It was Jim who initially hooked us up with Ed Catto and Joe Ahearn of Captain Action Enterprise LLC. Generally, most small publishers avoid working with licensors, but in this case our partnership has been a great working relationship for both companies. No doubt because both Ed and Joe, and their new partner, Michael Polis, are still fanboys at heart.”

The original plan was to have Beard write all three books solo but when scheduling conflicts arose, he turned to another popular New Pulp author, Barry Reese for assistance. A long time fan of Captain Action, Reese was happy to sign on and contributed the bulk of this third original book. Canadian artist Ted Hammond provides the stunning cover and Airship 27 Production’s Award Winning Art Director Rob Davis the interior illustrations as well as book design.

Jim Anthony had battled all manner of evil and villainy in his illustrious career as a globe-trotting adventurer. THE EYE OF QUANG CHI

THE EYE OF QUANG CHI

Airship 27 Productions is thrilled to announce the first in a brand new mystery series by prolific New Pulp writer, Fred Adams Jr.  “The Eye of Quang Chi,” is the first book in the Smith Brothers mystery chronicles.

In the early 1900s San Francisco tycoon Reginald Smith had all a man could want. His trading business, the Oriental Trade Consortium, had become a financial empire and the beautiful Ling-Tao wife. Then his fortune changed when his beloved died in childbirth, giving him two sons, Ming and Hong. The problem being they were co-joined twins, forever tied to each other by an accident of birth.

Smith hired them a brilliant tutor who convinced him to stop sheltering his sons from the public. He argued that they would only survive the cruelty of the world by embracing it, but becoming as strong and clever as their father. Thus began their true education and upon his death, Reginald Smith left his vast wealth and influence to his amazing sons.

Now a strange mystery plagues the city’s fabled Chinatown. A mysterious gem from China has been stolen and believed to be in the city. Pitting their unique intellects and vast resources, the Smith Brothers take on the case to ward of a bloody tong war. But can even they solve the mystery of the Eye of Quang Chi before the streets ran red with blood?

“Ever since signing on with Airship 27 Productions, Fred Adams Jr. has provided us with some of the most original, exciting and unique novels to bear the New Pulp label,” applauds Airship 27 Productions’ Managing Editor, Ron Fortier. “Adams is a retired college writing teacher and has proven he knows how to tell a story. What has blown us all away is the strange twist and turns he creates, keeping his readers off-balance and providing them with new, fresh experiences. Believe me, The Eye of Quang Chis is no exception.”

Joining the talented writer in presenting this first Smith Brothers adventure is well known British artist Morgan Fitzsimons, who provided both the ten interior illustrations and the colorful, evocative cover. “Morgan is a treasure,” Fortier adds. “Her research in the time and setting of the story was impeccable and she truly has a flair for the romantic. She was the perfect choice for this title.”  Award Winning Airship 27 Art Director Rob Davis put it all together with his deft designing touch and thus offers up one of the company’s most original and intriguing packages. Fortier concludes enthusiastically with, “We think mystery fans are going to love with the Smith Brothers.”

BASS REEVES
FRONTIER LAWMAN Vol 2

Airship 27 Productions is proud to announce the release of “Bass Reeves – Frontier Lawman Vol 2. This is the second in a series of brand new stories featuring one of the greatest historical figures of American history.

In the years after the Civil War, the most successful lawman to operate in the untamed frontiers was U.S. Deputy Marshal Bass Reeves. An ex-slave, Reeves pinned on the silver badge because he believed all men to be equal in the eyes of the law and so he would become an agent of that justice. In his career he captured over 3,000 felons and survived fourteen major gun battles. A crack shot with both rifle and pistol, he was never wounded once.

“The first time I heard of Bass Reeves, I was shocked that I hadn’t encountered him before in the history books I’d read while in school,” says Airship 27 Productions Managing Editor Ron Fortier. “I mean, what American child wasn’t brought up on the legendary figures of the Old West like Kit Carson, Wyatt Earp, Jesse James and Billy the Kid? But why were there no accounts about this amazing lawman?” Determined to find the answer to that puzzle, Fortier began his own research and soon discovered it was no accident that omitted the life of this dedicated deputy marshal from the chronicles of the Wild West but rather outright bigotry on the part of government sponsored educational programs.

“At the turn of the 20th Century, the Washington bureaucracy controlled education in the country and purposely forbade any mention of the contributions made by blacks in the settling of the West after Civil War. This unconscionable bigotry became the norm throughout the land,” Fortier continues. “Now it was time to set the record straight, in any way we could via our limited means. To that end, Airship 27 Productions put together an anthology featuring four fictionalized adventures starring Bass Reeves. “If stories could be invented to further the legends of such peace officers as Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson, then why not Bass Reeves?”  That first collection of Bass Reeves stories went on to become one of the company’s best selling titles.

Now, in this second volume of an ongoing series, the Deputy Marshal finds himself teaming up with a spitfire of a she-devil known as Quickshot Katy, chasing down desperate train robbers, protecting an army gold shipment and defending a vicious killer against an entire town demanding blood. Writers Milton Davis, Mel Odom, Michael Black and Derrick Ferguson have saddled up to deliver four new action packed western yarns starring the one and only Bass Reeves. Award winning artist Marco Turini provides the stunning cover and Airship 27 Productions’ own Art Director and Designer, Rob Davis the twelve interior illustrations.

Time to join the posse as the legendary U.S Deputy Marshal Bass Reeves sets out to once again bring justice to frontier as only he could.
